The re-emerged tweets of Peter Dutton as firm as the next Liberal leader are back to haunt him.

He formally launched his bid for Liberal Party leadership on Wednesday, promising to show a softer, more caring side to his personality if he becomes the next Liberal leader.

However, in one Twitter Post from 2011, Mr Dutton warned then Labor Minister Julia Gillard that his deputy Wayne Swann was behind his job by pushing his ‘softer side’.

“Some Friendly Advice Julia – Beware of a D/PM Selling Your ‘Soft Side’ When Your Party Is Looking for a L’Ship,” wrote Mr Dutton.

the former Defense Minister The headlines also came after Labor’s Tanya Plibersek was slammed for attacking her appearance. But Mr. Dutton is also known to target people’s appearance.

On Wednesday, Ms Plibersek, who is expected to be the next education minister, launched an extraordinarily personal attack on Dutton, comparing him to Harry Potter’s bald arch-enemy Voldemort.

He said of Mr Dutton, ‘I think there will be a lot of kids who have seen a lot of Harry Potter movies, who will be very scared of what they see at night.’

The harsh-talking Queenslander later said the remarks were ‘unfortunate’ and compared them to abuses received on social media.

Ms Plibersek apologized to him, but older tweets, which resurfaced on Thursday, show Mr Dutton himself is not afraid of personal attacks on people’s looks.

However, in August 2013, Mr Dutton tweeted insulting the then Labor PM Kevin Rudd.

‘KRudds fringe looks like it was welded this morning. More hair spray than Dame Edna,’ he said.

In 2010, Mr Dutton asked the then Labor Health Minister Nicola Roxon to ‘get on his broomstick’ in a fiery exchange in parliament.

Despite being free and easygoing with personal insults of himself in the past, Mr Dutton showed on Thursday that he is a little sensitive, or lack thereof, about his hair.

He said, ‘I’m not bald by choice, I was diagnosed with a skin condition a few years back, it’s all just the reality of growing up.

‘You read stuff like that online and it’s like a sewer of Twitter… I don’t think you need to be nasty and mean.

‘I’m not the prettiest block on the block, but I hope to be effective enough.’

New Prime Minister Anthony Albanese rebuked Ms Plibersek for her remarks on Mr Dutton’s looks, saying it was a ‘mistake’ and ‘should not have been said’.

‘Tanya Plibersek did the right thing by apologizing. I want to change the way politics works in this country. People get tired of struggle,’ he told ABC TV.

Mr Albanese denied that insulting a potential next liberal leader could deprive Ms Plibersek of a key role in the Labor government.

‘Tanya Plibersek will definitely be on my frontbench. There is no question about that. He apologized. That was a mistake. It shouldn’t have been said. We all make mistakes from time to time,’ he said.

‘We need to move on from them and that’s how we respond to them. Tanya Plibersek gave a fitting reply.

Speaking on Channel Sevens Sunrise, Mr. Albanese said, ‘Let us not mention the presence of people. Let us discuss the policy differences.
