Petrol and diesel prices brought some relief to consumers as prices continue to rise across the country. The 12th increase in prices in two weeks marked the 12th increase in prices of both the fuels in New Delhi on Monday with a hike of 40 paise. After a one-day pause in price revision on Friday, April 1, there were two consecutive hikes of 80 paise each over the weekend. Petrol and diesel prices in the national capital today stand at ₹103.81 and ₹95.07 per liter respectively. This brings a total increase of around ₹8.40 per liter in the prices of both the fuels over a period of two weeks.
India’s financial capital meanwhile revised prices by 42 paise for petrol and 43 paise for diesel. With the latest revision in prices, the price of petrol in the city has touched close to Rs 120 per liter with the fuel retailing at Rs 118.83 per litre. Meanwhile, diesel is sold at ₹ 103.07 per litre.

In Bangalore, petrol is set to cross the Rs 110 per liter mark in the city soon, with Monday’s prices sitting very close to Rs 109.41 per litre. Diesel price for the day was ₹ 93.23 per litre. Petrol in Chennai retailed at ₹109.34 a liter on Monday morning, with diesel prices (₹99.42) set to cross ₹100 a liter in the coming days. Coming to Kolkata, petrol and diesel were sold at ₹ 113.45 and ₹ 98.22 per liter respectively.

There has been a slight respite in fuel prices in the country since the daily revision began on March 22, with no increase in prices in just 2 out of the last 14 days. The current trajectory could see prices reaching new record highs in cities across the country, despite a drop in the tax rate on both the fuels by the central government and some states last year.
