Petrol and Diesel Price in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru as on 23 August: Fuel prices in India remained stable again on 23 August as per the latest price notification issued by the oil marketing companies. There has been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel for the last two months.
Petrol in Delhi today costs Rs 96.72 per liter and diesel is priced at Rs 89.62 per liter. Petrol in Mumbai costs Rs 106.31 per liter, while diesel costs Rs 94.27 per liter in Mumbai.

According to reports, oil marketing companies are incurring a loss of Rs 13.08 per liter on petrol and Rs 24.09 per liter on diesel. Public sector OMCs including Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) regularly set fuel prices in line with foreign exchange rates and international benchmark prices. Retail petrol and diesel prices vary from state to state due to local taxes such as VAT or freight charges.

Crude oil prices rose on Tuesday. Brent crude futures were trading 32 cents higher at $96.80 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate crude futures were trading 37 cents higher at $90.73.
