Petrol, diesel rates in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata – March 1

There has been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel in India on Saturday. Prices vary from state to state, depending on local taxes and the cost of transportation.

But prices have remained unchanged since the last revision on November 4, 2021, when the central government cut excise duty on petrol 5 per liter and that on diesel 10 liters.

LPG LPG prices are also stable since October when they touched 900 per cylinder.

This is despite the huge volatility in international oil prices. Brent crude oil, the best-known international benchmark, was at $82.74 a barrel on November 5, 2021, before it started falling and touched $68.87 a barrel on December 1.

After the Russia-Ukraine crisis, the price has risen above $105 a barrel last week and is now trading at US$100.99, well above the peak of US$86.40 on October 26, 2021, due to which petrol and Diesel prices had risen. – High Time.

Before the cut in excise duty, petrol and diesel prices had touched an all-time high across the country. while the petrol had crossed 100 per liter figure in most cities, almost half in the country had diesel above that level.

After the central government cut excise duty on petrol, the prices were reduced to an all-time high on November 4, 2021. 5 per liter and by diesel 10 liters.

States had also cut local sales tax or VAT on two fuels – the BJP-ruled state on the same day and some others on different dates thereafter. But apart from these two, there has been no change in the base rate.
