Petrol price crosses Rs 120 in Andhra Pradesh

Petrol price in Andhra Pradesh crossed the ₹120 mark on 5 April after a hike of ₹0.80. Petrol and diesel prices in the state are the highest in the south of India and second in the country after Maharashtra.

In Vijayawada, a liter of petrol costs ₹119.98 at Indian Oil fuel stations and ₹120 at Bharat Petroleum fuel stations. Diesel costs ₹105.68. In the last two weeks, the price of petrol has increased by Rs 9 and that of diesel by Rs 9.8, rapidly increasing the burden on motorists. On March 22, the prices of petrol and diesel in the city were ₹110.79 and ₹96.87 respectively. Exactly six months ago, on October 3, 2021, petrol price in Vijayawada was ₹ 108.29 and diesel cost ₹ 100.30 in Vijayawada.

As per the price list provided by Bharat Petroleum, Indian Oil and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, petrol price in Nellore at Rs 120.96 is the highest in the state.

While the price of petrol in Guntur, Srikakulam, Kakinada, Eluru, Tirupati, Anantapur, Kurnool is above ₹120, it ranges between ₹119 and ₹120 in the remaining cities and towns including Visakhapatnam, Ongole, Cuddapah and Vizianagaram.

Diesel in Nellore and Tirupati is more than ₹106 per liter while in other districts it is more than ₹105. In Visakhapatnam it is ₹104.7.

In addition to VAT, Andhra Pradesh levies an additional VAT of ₹4 per liter and a road development cess of ₹1 per liter of fuel. Meanwhile, according to HP Corporation, the price of petrol is more than ₹121 in Nanded, Jalna, Buldhana and some other places in Maharashtra. Elsewhere, prices are as low as ₹119. In state cities in the south of India, prices are as follows: Hyderabad (₹118.58), Chennai (₹110.08), Thiruvananthapuram (₹116.3) and Bellary (₹112.13).
