Petroleum Minister to meet foreign counterparts, global CEOs in GasTech 2022

New Delhi: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri will hold bilateral meetings with their foreign counterparts and CEOs of global energy companies in GASTEC 2022, a conference focused on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), in Milan.

A statement from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said that Puri will lead an official and business delegation to participate in the ‘Gastec Milan-2022’ in Milan, Italy from 5-7 September 2022.

GasTech, the world’s largest gathering focused on LNG as a low bridge fuel, called on key ministers and CEOs to discuss the evolving energy landscape, assess the economic recovery after the pandemic and a path to a fair energy transition. Brings together to navigate.

During the visit, the minister will participate in a select ministerial panel of the opening ceremony along with the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and Portugal’s Secretary of State for Energy. He will also participate in ministerial panel discussions titled ‘Energy Security and Transition’ and ‘A Just Energy Transition for Developing Nations’.

He will also chair a panel discussion on ‘India Spotlight: Powering India’s Energy Industry – New Paths for a Sustainable Future’.

In addition, during the visit, the minister will hold bilateral meetings with his counterpart ministers and CEOs of global energy companies participating in the GASTEC MILAN-2022, the statement said.

The minister’s meeting with his global counterpart assumes significance as it comes at a time when the world looks to an energy market devoid of Russia in the midst of the Ukraine conflict. Europe and India are looking at other sources of energy as well as looking at becoming self-reliant.

Puri will also inaugurate the exhibition stalls of Indian energy companies which are being displayed at the exhibition.

The visit will be an opportunity to highlight India’s economic growth story and investment opportunities in India across the entire energy value chain.

The flagship event of the Ministry, ‘India Energy Week’, which is scheduled for 5-8 February 2023 in Bengaluru, will be launched by the Minister during this visit.
