New Delhi:

The CBI has arrested a 35-year-old PhD scholar from Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu for allegedly raping children. Officials gave this information on Saturday.

He said the agency had registered a case against the accused for allegedly creating and disseminating child sexual abuse material in electronic form. The CBI had received photographs and videos of child sexual abuse from the Interpol database. Its further analysis using digital forensic tools gave Thanjavur district as the place of incident.

Officials said the agency conducted searches at the premises of the accused, in which objectionable electronic gadgets were recovered.

It was alleged that the accused was sexually abusing a girl for the last four years, whose nude videos and photos were uploaded on his Google account.

It is also alleged that the accused forced two minors (one male and one female) as well as other minors, including a girl, to perform sexual acts, the officials said.

The officials alleged that the accused then took pictures and videos and forced them to bring more girls, else he would have published the material on the internet.
