Piyush Goyal said G20 summit is a ‘big opportunity’ for India to show its strength

Next G20 summit presents a “great opportunity” for India Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said that to show the world its many strengths and lead many challenges.

Shri Goyal is in the US on an official visit. He co-chaired a meeting of the India-US Trade Policy Forum with US Trade Representative Catherine Tai on Wednesday.

“G-20 is going to be a very exciting opportunity for India to lead on the many challenges facing the world. This is going to be a great opportunity for us to showcase India’s many strengths, he told reporters at a press conference in Washington on January 11, 2023.

India formally assumed the chairmanship of the G20 on 1 December, next G20 Leaders’ Summit at the level of Heads of State/Government Scheduled to be held in New Delhi on 9 and 10 September.

The G20 or Group of 20 is an intergovernmental forum of the world’s major developed and developing economies.

This includes Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union. (The European Union).

Together, they account for 80 percent of global GDP, 75 percent of international trade, and two-thirds of the world population.

Mr Goyal said Mr Modi is considered one of the “tallest leaders” of the world and believes in actions and solutions.

Terming India’s G20 chairmanship a “huge deal”, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said that India intends to use its chairmanship for the benefit of the international community.

addressing the members of Indian diaspora in Vienna this month, said Mr Jaishankar: “We are going to make sure that the diversity of every region, every culture, every local cuisine and local products is showcased to the world.” “In a sense, I would say you can think of it as marketing India to the world,” he said.
