Planning to buy a used Honda Jazz? Here are the things you should consider first

Honda Jazz has always been a popular choice among premium hatchback buyers, and why not? It comes with a sturdy fit and finish, decent features and an economical engine. However, Honda hasn’t updated the Jazz for a while now, which is why a new model might not be a big bang for your money. We would suggest you to look for one in the used car space, where you can get one for anywhere between Rs. 2 lakh to Rs. 7 lakhs depending on the model year and its condition. Pros:

  1. The Honda Jazz comes with a solid build and good fit and finish. The quality of the plastic used inside is also good, and depending on the type you get, you will get features like LED headlights, LED DRLs, LED taillamps, alloy wheels and even a sunroof.
  2. The Jazz used to come with a 1.5-litre diesel engine, which is one of the best oil burners in its segment. While the current model is a petrol only car, you can find diesel versions in the used car market, which is what we would recommend.
  3. The Jazz is also quite fun-to-drive. It offers good ride and handling, especially the first-gen model. In fact, we can say that the older model Honda Jazz offered better driving dynamics than the new model.

The cabin of the Honda Jazz looks a bit boring with its black and beige interior and the interior layout is also quite old.

Shortcoming:

  1. While the built quality of the Jazz is certainly good, the design and styling are quite out of date. In fact, most of the features we have mentioned above are exclusive to the top-end trim of the new Honda Jazz.
  2. The cabin of the Honda Jazz also looks a bit boring with the black and beige interiors. The interior layout is also quite out of date, and the touchscreen isn’t the most responsive.
  3. The petrol engine of the new Honda Jazz seems to be quite underpowered, which becomes even more evident when you get the CVT automatic version, which is sluggish and a bit unresponsive. However, it is good enough if you are going to spend most of your time driving in the city.
