Narendra Modi addresses a post-Budget webinar on ‘Financing for Growth and Aspirational Economy’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 8 asked financial institutions to come up with innovative and futuristic financing as well as risk management ideas to meet the emerging needs of the economy. Stating that the implementation of green financing is to meet the ‘need of the hour’ Net-zero carbon emissions target by 2070Shri Modi said that financial assistance should be given to environment friendly projects.

“Our financing sector has to look at new futuristic ideas, initiatives and think of innovative financing and sustainable risk management ideas,” Mr Modi said in a post-Budget webinar on ‘Financing for Growth and Aspirational Economy’.

He also stressed on the need to identify 8-10 sectors in which India can be among the top-3 globally and asked financial institutions to extend credit support. Shri Modi also asked the bureaucrats to come up with ‘actionable solutions’ to implement the Union Budget proposals for 2022-23.

He said the country was investing heavily in health infrastructure and asked banks to look into the possibility of prioritizing credit to the sector. Mr Modi also said that if banks give priority funding to exporters, it will make them stronger and help in the Atmanirbhar Bharat programme.
