PM Modi calls upon India to innovate for India

‘Startups are not only bringing innovation but are also growing as major job creators.’

Elaborating on the successes during the recent years, he said that 28,000 patents were granted last year as against 4,000 in 2013-14. Against registration of 70,000 trademarks in 2013-14, 2.5 lakh trademarks have been registered in 2020-21.

“India’s ranking on the Global Innovation Index is improving as the program on innovation has started in the country. In 2015, India was ranked 81 and now it is at 46,” he said.

Startups are not only bringing innovation but are also growing as major job creators.

The year 2022 brings new opportunities and avenues for startups, he said, adding that January 16 will be celebrated as National Startup Day to help take the startup culture to the grassroots level.

Shri Modi said that self-certification along with easy access to funds for compliance with nine labor and three environmental laws is helping to boost startups.

He said that innovation and technology based solutions are being encouraged to find solutions to the challenges being faced by the country.
