PM Modi interacts with his Danish counterpart to attend India-Nordic summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in the Danish capital Copenhagen on Tuesday on the second leg of his Europe tour. He was received at the airport as a special gesture by the Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Fredriksen.

PM Modi Will hold talks with his Danish counterpart on broad issues of mutual interest to promote bilateral relations and participate in other India-Nordic Summit.

Fredriksen received the Indian Prime Minister on his arrival in Marienborg, the official residence of the Prime Minister of Denmark, for talks.

Modi tweeted after arriving in Copenhagen, “Landed in Copenhagen. I am very grateful to PM Fredriksen for the warm welcome. This visit will go a long way in further strengthening India-Denmark ties.” This is PM Modi’s first visit to Denmark.

Prior to his visit to Denmark, the Indian Prime Minister was in Germany where he held detailed bilateral discussions with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

PM Modi, in his departure statement, had said that the visit “will provide an opportunity to review progress in our unique ‘Green Strategic Partnership’ with Denmark, as well as other aspects of our bilateral relationship.”

The Indian Prime Minister will also call on Queen Margaret II.

PM Modi will also review ‘India-Denmark: A Green Strategic Partnership’, which was established during a virtual summit in September 2020. This partnership was translated into a result-oriented five-year action plan during the visit of Prime Minister Frederiksen to India in October 2021. ,

Apart from bilateral relations with Denmark, he will also participate in the second India-Nordic Summit with the Prime Ministers of Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Sweden and Norway, where they will take stock of cooperation since the first India-Nordic summit. 2018.

“The conference will focus on topics such as post-pandemic economic recovery, climate change, innovation and technology, renewable energy, evolving global security landscape and India-Nordic cooperation in the Arctic region,” Modi said.

The summit will focus on economic engagement, green partnership and mobility and cooperation in the Arctic region.

Modi had said, “On the sidelines of the summit, I will also meet leaders of other four Nordic countries and review progress in India’s bilateral relations with them.”

“The Nordic countries are important partners for India in sustainability, renewable energy, digitization and innovation. The visit will help enhance our multi-faceted cooperation with the Nordic region,” he said.

Denmark is home to a strong Indian diaspora of 16,000 people. More than 60 Indian companies in Denmark, mainly in the IT sector, are further strengthening bilateral business-to-business ties.
