PM Modi likely to visit Gujarat thrice in about 3 weeks, outreach towards Patel community on agenda

Prime minister Narendra Modi expected to visit his home state Gujarat To dedicate people to various projects, including hospitals, at least thrice within 22 days, News18 has learned.

Highly placed sources in the Bharatiya Janata Party said the prime minister is likely to address a sammelan (convention) of the Patel community at a village in Rajkot on May 28.

The BJP aims to garner a crowd of around four lakh to garner support from the influential community. According to rough estimates, Patels constitute about 12 per cent of Gujarat’s population.

The PM will also dedicate a hospital to the community.

Outreach practice becomes important because Hardik PatelPatidar (Patel), who was the face of the agitation before the assembly elections five years ago, quit the Congress this week, accusing him of insulting and insulting him as well as members of his community.

Sources said that the second visit of the PM is likely in the month of June.

According to a senior BJP leader, there are two to three projects which will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister next month.

“The Prime Minister is likely to visit Surat on June 10 to inaugurate a series of programmes. This will see the presence of a mixed group of people from all castes and classes,” said the source.

The third visit of the Prime Minister to Gujarat is likely to be in Vadodara.

The party has planned a big conference of ‘Page Committee Members’ (Panna Pramukhs). Sources said that the Prime Minister’s visit is likely to take place on June 18.

“These members of the page committees did a wonderful job in the last elections. Women were our real soldiers who mobilized support for us and ensured that we came back to power. This will be an important meeting,” said the source.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah asked BJP workers at a Chintan Shivir in Ahmedabad this week to ensure a respectable victory in the year-end Gujarat Assembly elections.

The party has started preparations for the elections by winning 182 seats. The BJP has been in power in Gujarat for 27 years and is developing technology to counter the anti-incumbency wave.
