PM Modi will do Kedarnath tomorrow, will unveil the statue of Adi Guru Shankaracharya

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Kedarnath on Friday to offer prayers at Lord Shiva’s temple there and also unveil a grand statue of Adi Guru Shankaracharya.

In 2019, work had started on the 12 feet statue of Guru Shankaracharya, weighing 35 tonnes. During his visit to the Himalayan temple near the Mandakini river, a tributary of the Ganges in the state’s Rudraprayag district, the prime minister will also inaugurate the reconstructed mausoleum. The Shankaracharya’s damaged in the 2013 floods and many other projects.

PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone of Kedarpuri reconstruction projects 400 million. Adi Guru Shankaracharya, the seer of the 8th century, attained salvation at Kedarnath.

The unveiling of his statue will be live streamed at 12 Jyotirlingas, four Shankaracharya mathas (monasteries), his birthplace and several major temples across the country. Kedarpuri Reconstruction is also considered as the Prime Minister’s dream project, whose progress is personally reviewed at regular intervals.

Modi has also visited the Himalayan temple many times after becoming the Prime Minister. The visit to the temple on Friday will be his fifth visit as Prime Minister. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who along with his cabinet colleagues reviewed the preparations for the temple ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit, said all arrangements are in place and Kedarpuri is fully prepared to welcome Modi.

“The Prime Minister’s vision is to develop Devbhoomi as the spiritual and cultural capital of the world where people from all over the world come for peace,” Dhami said. He said that the redevelopment of Kedarnath on such a large scale is a step towards implementing that vision.

“It is a proud moment for us. The Prime Minister has done something in Kedarnath which no one even thought of doing for hundreds of years,” he said. Chief Secretary SS Sandhu along with Garhwal Commissioner Ravinath Raman visited Kedarnath on Thursday and took stock of the arrangements.
