PM Modi will visit Kedarnath, Badrinath in Uttarakhand tomorrow

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Badrinath and Kedarnath on October 21, from where foundation for more connectivity projects will be laid. 3400 crores.

The projects will be aimed at improving connectivity and religious tourism of the region.

The Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement, “Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will visit Uttarakhand on October 21, 2022. In Kedarnath, at around 8:30, he will have darshan and worship at Shri Kedarnath Temple.”

“Around 9 pm, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of the Kedarnath ropeway project. After that he will go to Adi Guru Shankaracharya Samadhi Sthal.”

“At around 9:25 am, the Prime Minister will review the progress of development works at Mandakini Asthapath and Saraswati Asthapath,” the statement said.

After that he will offer prayers at Badrinath temple and see how the river banks are developing. Thereafter, he will lay the foundation stone of road and ropeway projects in Mana village.

“The ropeway at Kedarnath will be about 9.7 km long and will connect Gaurikund with Kedarnath, reducing the travel time between the two places from the present 6-7 hours to around 30 minutes. Hemkund ropeway will connect Govindghat with Hemkund Sahib. It will be approximately 12.4 km long and will reduce the travel time from a day to just 45 minutes. This ropeway will also connect Ghangaria, which is the gateway to the Valley of Flowers National Park.

The ropeway project will be constructed at a cost of Rs.2430 crore to provide a stable, safe and environment-friendly mode of transport to the passengers.

The upgradation of this vital infrastructure is aimed at encouraging religious tourism, which will result in the creation of many employment opportunities and economic development in the region.

“Foundation of Road Widening Projects” 1000 crores will also be kept during the Yatra. The two road widening projects – Mana to Mana Pass (NH07) and Joshimath to Malari (NH107B) – will be another step towards providing all-weather road connectivity in our border areas. Apart from enhancing connectivity, these projects will also prove to be strategically beneficial.”
