Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday said it is a matter of pride that India has got the G20 chairmanship and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take advantage of the opportunity for the country’s benefit and help stop China from making inroads on the border and To correct the trade imbalance. with this. Speaking at the all-party meeting convened by the Prime Minister on the G20 chairmanship, Kharge urged him to use the opportunity to play a key role in helping the country secure a permanent seat in the UN Security Council and to steer the nation out of debt crisis. Congratulating Prime Minister Modi on India’s G20 presidency, the Congress chief said it was a matter of pride for the country and the G20 leaders would be able to see the country and the progress made in the last 75 years. He also cited the example of India hosting the Non-Aligned Summit in 1983 which was attended by around 100 countries and later the same year it hosted the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) summit which was attended by leaders of 42 countries.

He also recalled former US President Barack Obama’s words about Manmohan Singh showing the way forward to the world during the 2008 economic crisis that gripped the world. The Congress president told the meeting that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has said that 53 countries are going through debt crisis and expressed hope that India will show the way forward to help these countries out of the crisis. Sources said Kharge also asked Modi to help create a system that could assist in the repatriation of fugitives who fled to other countries after committing economic frauds in India.

He said that India and the Prime Minister should also use this opportunity to avail themselves and seek compensation from rich countries on the basis of COP27 agreement for the damage caused to the environment. Kharge asked the Prime Minister to use this opportunity to talk to the United States to find a permanent solution to the problem of US visas for Indians as the waiting period for obtaining US visas has currently reached 900 days. He called upon the Prime Minister to use this opportunity to get more investments into the country, help fully exploit the tourism potential, and ensure the safety and security of NRIs and students studying abroad.
