PM to launch seven medical colleges simultaneously in UP – Times of India

Siddharth Nagar: In a major push to the health infrastructure of the state, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate seven new autonomous medical colleges from Siddharth Nagar, the land of Buddha, on October 25.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who was here to take stock of the preparations for the Prime Minister’s visit, said that this is in line with the commitment of the state government to provide the best possible health facilities to the people of the state.

Besides the medical college at Siddharth Nagar, six more medical colleges are to be inaugurated at Deoria, Etah, Hardoi, Ghazipur, Mirzapur and Pratapgarh.

After the inauguration of seven medical colleges, the total MBBS seats in Uttar Pradesh will increase by 700 and this will be a record. We are already number one in implementing 44 central schemes. The CM also said that earlier there was only BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur-Basti zone and now AIIMS is also ready and it is expected that PM Modi will inaugurate it within one and a half months.

“In the coming years, there will be no dearth of doctors in the state,” he said, adding, “These medical colleges will be named after great people. Deoria Medical College is named after Maharishi Devraha Baba. ; Ghazipur Medical College after Maharishi Vishwamitra; Mirzapur Medical College after Maa Vindhyavasini; Pratapgarh Medical College after Dr Sonelal Patel and Etah Medical College after Veerangana Avanti Bai Lodhi.

“The medical college in Siddharthanagar has been constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana and the state is getting medical colleges under the guidance of PM Modi. The construction of a medical college in Basti started last year and two years back in Bahraich and now the colleges are running the second batch of MBBS. A medical college has also started in Ayodhya,” the CM said.

Siddharthnagar Medical College is named after Madhav Prasad Tripathi, popularly known as “Madhav Babu”, a freedom fighter, politician and the first President of Uttar Pradesh BJP. He said that all the arrangements for hospital, hostel, staff accommodation in this medical college have been completed and faculty has also been appointed.

CM said that through this medical college not only Siddharthnagar but people of Balrampur, Maharajganj and neighboring country Nepal will get best medical facilities here.
