‘PM’s words and actions never match’: Rahul Gandhi on Modi’s Khadi pitch

PM Modi said on Saturday that Khadi can become a source of inspiration to realize the dream of a developed and self-reliant India.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi Prime Minister attacked on Sunday Narendra Modi On his pitch for Khadi, alleged that his words and actions “never match”.

The Prime Minister on Saturday said that Khadi can become a source of inspiration to realize the dream of a developed and self-reliant India.

Attacking the Prime Minister, Gandhi said, “‘Khadi for the nation’ but Chinese polyester for the national flag! As always, the words and actions of the PM never match.”

The Congress has strongly criticized the Center for amending the Flag Code that the national flag would be made of cotton/polyester/wool/silk khadi bunting, whether hand-spun and hand-woven or machine-made.

Earlier machine-made and polyester flags were not allowed to be used. Speaking during the ‘Khadi Utsav’ (Khadi festival) at the Sabarmati riverfront in Ahmedabad, Modi had said on Saturday that once a symbol of self-respect, khadi or homespun was treated as an inferior product after independence.

He urged the people to gift only Khadi Village Industries products during the upcoming festive season.
