Police brought tribal students on a two-day Anand Yatra

Class X students of Eklavya Ashram School in Pedayalu were on Tuesday brought on a two-day Anand Yatra to the city as part of the ‘Mundadugu’ program of the district police.

The bus carrying 37 girls and their teachers was flagged off by Paderu ASP P. Jagdish in Paderu. He was given a grand welcome by bursting firecrackers at the Armed Reserve Ground of Kailasagiri.

Interacting with the girls, Superintendent of Police (Visakha Rural) B. Krishna Rao asked about their native villages. Many of them came from remote villages in Pedayayalu, Munchingput, Hukumpeta and Paderu mandals, which have considerable Maoist influence. During the conversation, the SP came to know that many of them have not seen Visakhapatnam city yet. They seemed to be influenced by city life and some of them aspired to become police officers and teachers. Sri Krishna Rao asked them to visit the city sights and gain knowledge apart from having fun during the journey. They were expected to study well and get a good job, and thus support their parents and family members.

The girl students thanked the police department for organizing the Anand Yatra. They were taken to the zoo, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam airport and Dr. YSR Central Park on Tuesday.

The students were accompanied by their teachers Gautami, Venkata Rao and Srikanth and Pedabayalu ASI Manoj Kumar.
