Amaravati:

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday wrote a letter to Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Gautam Sawang alleging that the state police was harassing TDP leaders.

“It is appalling to note the unilateral functioning of a section of police in favor of the ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh and constant harassing and intimidating Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders, cadres and sympathizers,” he said in the letter.

He alleged in the letter that the police were harassing TDP supporters by registering false cases against them at the behest of the Yuvajan Shramik Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) government.

“In this backdrop, it appears to be a police raj which is only reminiscent of the colonial raj,” he said.

He also said that two TDP workers had attempted suicide after being harassed by the police in Mogilichharala village under Lingasamudram police station area of Prakasam district.

He demanded a proper inquiry into the incident and appropriate action.
