Police raid program in Anna Nagar, more than 400 liters of liquor seized

Acting on information about an unauthorized party in which liquor was being served to guests, the police on Sunday raided a private mall in Anna Nagar and seized over 400 liters of liquor.

In the raids conducted by the police officials of Prohibition Enforcement Wing (PEW), Anna Nagar, a total of 844 liquor bottles were seized and a case was registered against four persons who organized the party. A senior police officer said that there was a tip-off that there was a party called ‘Great Indian Gathering’ in which liquor was being served and people below 21 years of age were being invited to the event.

The party organized on the top floor of the mall was raided by the police team, which included employees of Anna Nagar PU and Thirumangalam station. The teams found that more than 90 people who attended the event were under the age of 21.

The police also found that the liquor belonged to a bar in the mall, but was being kept for serving to the party-goers. Upon investigation, it was found that the bar did not have a license to serve liquor. Police have seized liquor bottles of more than 400 liters from unauthorized bars by registering a case for organizing the party without permission.

Police said a case has been registered at PEW West and investigation is on.
