A policeman was shot dead by terrorists in south Kashmir and three members of The Resistance Front (TRF) were arrested in central Kashmir on Saturday.
Head constable Ali Mohammad Ghani was shot at around 5.30 pm by terrorists near his residential house in Hasanpora Tabla area of Bijbehara, Anantnag, a police spokesman said. Though the injured policemen were immediately rushed to the nearest hospital, they succumbed to their injuries,” the police said.
The deceased was posted at Kulgam police station. “The investigation is ongoing and officials continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this terror crime. The area has been cordoned off and searches are on in the area.” This is the second attack on a policeman in Kashmir in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, police said that a terror module was busted by arresting three terror associates in Ganderbal in central Kashmir. “Acting on specific information, a special joint post was set up in Shuhama area of Ganderbal by Police, Army and CRPF. During checking, movement of three suspects was observed and joint forces intercepted them,” said the police. During the search incriminating material, arms and ammunition including two Chinese pistols, three pistol magazines, 15 rounds of ammunition, two grenades and three mobile phones were recovered, they said. “During preliminary investigation, it was revealed that all three were acting as terrorist associates of TRF and were involved in providing shelter, logistics support and transportation of arms and ammunition to terrorists operating across the district,” the police said.
