Describing the current situation in the country as “not good”, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Tuesday that the “politics of isolation” going on in the country is not welcome. Banerjee, who attended Eid-ul-Fitr prayers on the rain-soaked Red Road, urged the people gathered there not to be afraid but to unite for a better future.

He said, “The situation in the country is not right. The politics of divide, rule and separation is not right in the country. Don’t be afraid and keep fighting.”

Addressing a gathering of around 14,000 people for Eid prayers on Red Road, Banerjee assured them that “neither I, nor my party nor my government will do anything that will hurt you.”
