After a lot of anticipation, the star-studded Kalki 2898 AD had its theatrical release on Thursday, June 27. Kamal Haasan, appearing as the film’s antagonist, recently talked about his experience of being a part of such a monumental project. He also mentioned how politicians have been controlling us.

As per the reports, Kamal Haasan attended the film’s premiere at a Chennai theatre and interacted with the media after the special screening. He revealed that he appears for a short while in the film and the audience will meet his character in the second half. The reporters then asked the actor about his upcoming films, whether they explore contemporary politics or mythological politics. To this question, the actor answered, “We have been puppets in the hands of politicians for ages.” He added, “It should be our desire that it should be in the hands of good people.”

In the rest of the interaction, the Indian 2 actor had nothing but praises for the creators of Kalki. According to Kamal, Indian cinema is well on its way to being a part of global entertainment. Various events continue to take place which symbolize this fact, one of them being the release of Kalki 2898 AD.

Talking about Nag Ashwin, he said, “The director has beautifully produced this film with a mythological backdrop, science fiction mythology.” Only the Greek and Chinese can compete with our country when it comes to mythology, history and films, the actor added. According to him, no other country can boast of such rich historical stories. He revealed that Nag Ashwin has directed and written the story with “great patience.”

Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2989 AD was released yesterday. The cast includes names like Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani in notable roles. It was produced by C Aswani Dutt under the banner of Vyjayanthi Movies, while Santhosh Narayanan composed the music. The film is made under a reported budget of Rs 600 crore.
