Powell: Former US Secretary of State Colin Powell dies of complications from Covid: Statement – Times of India

Washington: Colin PowellThe first black US Secretary of State and top military official died on Monday from Covid-19 complications at the age of 84, his family said in a statement.
“He was fully vaccinated. We want to thank the medical staff Walter Reed National Medical Center for their care and treatment. We have lost a remarkable and loving husband, father, grandfather and a great American,” Powell’s family said in a post on their Facebook page.
As a four-star Army General, he was the Chief of Army Staff. Joint Chiefs of Staff under the president George HW Bush During the 1991 Gulf War in which US-led forces drove Iraqi troops from neighboring countries Kuwait.
Powell, a moderate Republican and a pragmatist, later served as Secretary of State under the President. George W Bush.
