Prayagraj: Children of slums make unique science models from dazzling, waste materials. Allahabad News – Times of India

The President of Prayagraj Engineering Association praised the models and assured that he would help these children to showcase their talent at the state level.

PRAYAGRAJ: After securing a high percentage in the UP Board High School examination, the slum children of Sangam city showcased their talent in an exhibition where their science models were displayed. The unique feature of his models of drip irrigation, automatic padman device, solar system, satellite and rainwater harvesting system was that they were made using waste material.
These models impressed all the visitors and the members of Prayagraj Engineering Association assured them to provide a platform to showcase their talent at the state and national level.
Two slum girls Sana and Sani, who scored 81% and 71% respectively in high school, had created a working model of sewage water treatment and said that it could be used to check water crisis. And the technology will make used water reusable.
Khushboo and Aanchal, who also scored first class, created a model of the automated PadMan device, which would distribute sanitary pads to the women registered with the device.
Hrithik, a class 9 student, son of a vegetable vendor, demonstrated a non-working model of Light Dependent Resistors (LDR), which can save electricity consumed by street lights.
“It is generally seen that many streetlights remain on during the day even when they are not required. The LDR device will automatically turn off these streetlights. LDRs are photosensitive devices that can differentiate between day and night by measuring the intensity of light.
Deepak showed a Drip Water Irrigation Model showing the advantages of the technology which helps in saving water and provides maximum benefits to the plants and crops.
Nandini and Reshma (solar system), Jeetu and Saif (AC), Sakshi and Jyoti (day and night), Roohi and Unnati (satellites), Rani and Khushboo (pollution check), Deepak Kori (table lamp), models of happiness and Najo (rain water harvesting), Priya (volcano), Komal and Nandini (free energy) and Khushboo Bano (emission system) were also appreciated.
Prayagraj Engineering Association President Sanjeev Tripathi praised the models and assured that he would help these children to showcase their talent at the state level.
Tripathi said, “The models made from the waste material reflect the creativity of these children.”
