The 25-year-old is in contract talks about staying at Molineux amid suggestions from Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester United as well as Spanish giants Barcelona.

British media reports indicated on Thursday that Neves is Erik ten Haag’s prime target if the Ajax manager should be named as the next United coach.

“I don’t know if it’s Man United or other teams, I know we have a special player here,” Wolves manager Legge said ahead of his team’s Premier League tour in Newcastle on Friday.

He said, ‘What he is doing this season is very good. I think the way we play, he can show a better Ruben, and the way he plays puts our team on a different level.”

Lage said: “When you have that player, the best thing to do is to improve on his salary and contract years.

“But who knows, when you have a top player like him in that specific position, who can defend and attack, and a top professional and a great guy, then the big teams will be able to buy these types of players for £ With 100m.”

Neves, whose current deal expires in 2024, is currently out with a knee injury that will sideline him until May, well-aware of the financial pressures on Midlands club Wolves.

“It’s not just about Wolves, which club can decline an offer of £80, 90 or 100 million these days? Five or six,” he said.
