The Football Association confirmed on Monday that football will return this week, although the limitations of police resources surrounding the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II on Monday 19 September have forced further postponements and rearrangements.

A Premier League statement read: “After extensive consultation with clubs, police, local security advisory groups and other relevant authorities, there was no other option but to postpone the three fixtures.

“The Premier League would like to thank the UK Football Police Unit and other police forces across the country as well as our broadcast partners for their support during this process, and will continue to get in touch with them ahead of the weekend.

Other fixtures to look forward to

On 18 September, Brentford v Arsenal has been moved to kick-off at 4:30 pm, while Everton v West Ham will now take place at 6:45 pm.

Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral will take place on Monday, 19 September at 3:30 pm at Westminster Abbey, with the entire football program postponed for that day.
