Leicester City ended their campaign on a high note with a 4-1 win at home to Southampton on the final day of the Premier League season on Sunday, sealing eighth place.

After spending a portion of their season as a mid-table team fighting in the Europa Conference League, Leicester finished the season with a four-match unbeaten run. Southampton finished 15th for the second consecutive season.
There were no shots on either side in the first half but Leicester finally made it through four minutes after halftime when defender Lyonko failed to tackle Kasper Schmeichel’s long goal kick.
Jamie Vardy was quick to pounce on the head back pass and his shot was blocked by goalkeeper Alex McCarthy, but James Maddison arrived to clean the box and give Leicester the lead with their 12th league goal of the season.
Vardy gave Leonko a hard time and the striker eventually doubled the lead when he dropped a poor tackle from the Brazilian centre-back to fire a shot at the near post.
Southampton halved the deficit five minutes later when James Ward-Prause converted a penalty, but any hope of a comeback was dashed when second-half substitute Ayoze Perez scored twice, his first league goal of the season. .
