During a press conference, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said that India’s goods exports in 2021-22 were a record $418 billion, 40% more than the previous year and 33% from the pre-pandemic levels of 2019-20. is more.

Engineering goods exports increased by a record $111 billion, of which about $16 billion was sent to the US alone.

While earlier exports were dominated by neighboring and ASEAN countries, this year saw a significant jump in exports to developed countries like US, Netherlands, Hong Kong, Singapore, UK, Belgium and Germany.

Shri Goyal said, “The growth has happened in those sectors which have small enterprises and agriculture sector. I congratulate the farmers for increasing their productivity that wheat exports increased from 2 lakh tonnes in 2019-20 to 21.55 lakh last year. “We will continue to export wheat on a large scale to countries affected by conflict in Ukraine and Russia (major global wheat suppliers) and expect to comfortably export 1 million tonnes of wheat this year,” he said.

Commerce Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam said, “35 lakh tonnes of wheat has been exported to Bangladesh largely through the Petrapole land border.”
