“Pretend as Media”: Kerala Governor Bans News Channels From Press Meet

Governor asks journalists of Kairali News and Media One to leave

Kochi (Kerala):

Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan has banned two Malayalam channels from his press briefing in Kochi on Monday.

The governor asked the journalists of Kairali News and Media One channels to leave the place and said that he would not meet accusing these two channels of being political figures.

Asking them to step out, he said, “I consider the media to be very important. I have always replied to the media but now I am not able to convince myself of the people who are in the form of media. They are media. No, they are masquerading as media but are basically political allies.

“There are actually members of a party here. So, if any of these channels are attending the press meeting, please leave. If Kairali and Media One are correspondents then I will leave. I clearly mentioned Did that I would not talk to Kairali and Media One,” he said.

The press meet took place this morning at the guest house in Kochi.

Earlier on October 24, the Raj Bhavan had barred four Malayalam channels, including these two channels, from attending the Governor’s press conference.

Kairali News is the channel of the ruling CPI(M). In addition, Media One, a Malayalam satellite channel, is facing a ban from the central government over security clearance issues.

The Supreme Court had last week reserved its verdict on Media One’s plea against the ban. In an interim order in March, the SC had allowed the channel to continue its broadcast.
