“Priests Created Castes, Not God”: RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat

Mumbai:

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday said that conscience and consciousness are the same in the country, only opinions differ.

He was addressing a program organized in the auditorium of Ravindra Natya Mandir on the occasion of 647th birth anniversary of Saint Shiromani Rohidas.

Shri Bhagwat said, “When we earn a livelihood, we also have a responsibility towards the society. When every work is for the betterment of the society, how can any work be big, small or different?”

He said, “To our makers, we are equal. There is no caste or sect. These differences were created by our priests, which was wrong.”

He said that conscience and consciousness in the country are all the same, and only opinions differ.”

The RSS chief said that the stature of Saint Rohidas is bigger than Tulsidas, Kabir and Surdas, hence he is considered as Saint Shiromani.

“Though he could not win over the Brahmins in Shastrath, he was able to touch many hearts and make them believe in God,” he said.

Invoking Saint Rohidas, he said that religion is not only to fill one’s stomach.

“Do your work, and do it according to your dharma. Unite the society and work for its progress, because that is dharma. It was because of such thoughts and high ideals that many big names became disciples of Saint Rohidas.” the RSS chief said.

Shri Bhagwat said that Saint Rohidas gave four mantras to the society – truth, compassion, inner purity and constant hard work and effort.

“Pay attention to whatever is happening around you but do not give up your religion under any circumstances. While the method of communicating religious messages is different, the message itself is the same. One must practice one’s religion Needed.” without animosity for other religions,” he said.
