Princess Martha Louise of Norway relinquishes royal duties to magician fiancé Durek Vereta

Copenhagen: Princess Martha Louise, daughter of King Harald of Norway, said on Tuesday that she would no longer officially represent Norway’s royal household because of “many questions concerning me and my fiance’s role”. The 51-year-old princess, who is fourth in line to the Norwegian throne, got engaged in June to an American, Durek Veret, who describes himself on his website as a magician and a healer. At least one of the foundations for which Martha Louise served as mentor later ended her relationship with the princess.

“I have decided that at the present time I will not perform official duties for the Royal Household,” she said in a statement released by the palace, adding that the decision was made in coordination with her parents, “to make peace around For the royal house.”

The princess would retain her title, but the palace said she informed organizations where she still served as patron that she was leaving the role.

His younger brother, Crown Prince Haakon, 49, is the heir to the throne. “I am sorry that the Princess will no longer represent the Royal Household,” the Herald said during a news conference about the issue. Raja, 82, said that “we agree to disagree.”

“We have seen this process from all sides,” said his wife, Rani Sonja. “It’s been a unanimous decision.”

The Herald said that Verret “probably thought he could do anything without impressing us.” “They should also keep in mind what we stand for,” Sonia said.

The palace statement said the couple will “clarify the distinction between their activities and those of the royal household” and will not use the title of princess or refer to the royals in social media or business activities.
Bo Gladitz, general secretary of the Norwegian Rheumatism Association, told Norwegian news agency NTB that it was “a systematic and wise decision of our patron”.

“He solved it on his own initiative, and that’s good,” Gleditsch told NTB.

Norwegian media have accused Martha Louise and Veret of using their royal title for commercial gain as well as promoting alternative health care methods.

“I believe alternative methods can be an important complement to established medicine,” said Martha Lewis on Instagram.

According to the statement, when he and Martha Louise marry, 47-year-old Veret will no longer have the title or representation of the Royal House of Norway. According to Norwegian media, the pair, who have been together since May 2019, will attend family-related occasions and traditional royal events.

Martha Lewis has three daughters from her first marriage, which ended in 2016. According to Norwegian media, she plans to relocate with him to California. The palace did not say whether Martha Louise’s transformation would have any effect on her daughters.

Along with her royal duties, the princess has written books in which she claims to have had contact with angels.
In a poll published last month by Norway’s Dagbladet newspaper, 68% of respondents said they want to keep the monarchy. When Norwegian broadcaster NRK asked the same question in 2017, the support of the royal household was 81%.
