In a recent video the actress posted on Instagram, PeeCee talks about how she felt when she wore it for the first time after marrying American actor-singer Nick Jonas. Talking about wearing mangalsutra as a married woman, she said, “I remember when I first wore mine… because we grew up with the idea of what it meant. It was just a very special moment for me. Also, as a modern woman, I understand the consequences of what it means. do i like the idea of wearing mangalsutra or Is it too patriarchal?, But at the same time, I am the generation that is in the middle. Keep the tradition but know who you are and what you stand for. And we will see if the next generation of girls can do differently.” Mentioning how she is trying to take the traditions forward, in the caption of the post she wrote, “Definitely a conversation starter. Carry on the traditions by knowing who you stand for and what I am trying and learning every day.” Talking about its different layers, Priyanka explained the reason behind the use of black beads in the mangalsutra. “Black is basically to ward off evil, to protect you,” she said. The video is essentially a brand endorsement for a jewelery brand on its Instagram page that has donned a trendy mangalsutra. 39 year old actress is married Nick Jonas For three years now and has lived at his posh residence in Los Angeles. Priyanka often shares glimpses of how she follows Indian tradition and culture in the US as well as she religiously celebrates all festivals with the Jonas family. On the work front, Priyanka will next be seen in Farhan Akhtar’s directorial ‘Jee Le Zara’, which also stars Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif.
