Priyanka: ‘Looks exactly like Indira’: When Priyanka interacts with voters Noida News – Times of India

Noida: sunitra He couldn’t believe his eyes when a surprise visitor walked into his two-room house. A garland was handed to her, but she was too shocked to catch it. After all, it’s not every day that he has Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi as his “guest”.
“It was the first time that a politician of his stature was in our house. If I had known, I would have made elaborate arrangements. He also clicked a selfie with my daughter-in-law. Now, everyone is coming to our house and asking what Priyanka said,” said a smiling Sunita.
In her first door-to-door campaign in UP, Priyanka visited the slum areas of Sector 8 and 5 and interacted with the local people on Monday. He was accompanied by Pankhuri Pathak, the Congress candidate from Noida.
Ajay Kumar and a bunch of his students were in one of the two rooms of Sunita’s house. “He interacted with the children and asked them some questions. They were able to answer correctly, which made me proud of them. Priyanka said that if her party wins the elections, she will give proper education to these slum children. She seemed quite confident,” Kumar said.
Many residents were reminded of Indira Gandhi as Priyanka walked around the area and interacted with her. “I was a child when Indira Gandhi died. She was a great leader and loved by all. Now, I am 54 years old and I saw Indira Gandhi again in her granddaughter. She looks exactly like him,” said Muni, the 54-year-old widow, with her two daughters.
The slum dwellers also spoke to Priyanka. “We are poor people. We will vote for the candidate who will work for us. Yogi The Adityanath government helped us during the lockdown. Priyanka gave us hope, but will her party be able to improve the drainage system in our slum? Will it give us concrete houses? If this happens then we will definitely vote for the party. But it was not just Priyanka or Pankhuri who hit the streets. The Congress has fielded three women from Noida and Ghaziabad as part of its “girl hoon, fight sakti hoon” campaign. The party feels that reaching out to women voters and talking about issues has helped instill confidence in them.
“People have come to know that Priyanka Gandhi is accessible. There is a superstition that if someone comes to Noida, he will not become CM. Yes, Yogi came to Noida, but he never interacted with people. Priyanka has broken that superstition. For him, people are important, not superstitions,” Priyanka told TOI.
From Sahibabad, Congress has fielded Sangeeta Tyagi, a science teacher and wife of party spokesperson late Neeraj Tyagi. Neeraj Kumari is the candidate from Modinagar.
“I start my campaign at 8 am and try to cover at least eight-nine areas in a day. I am apprising the voters of the promises made by my party which thinks about all sections of the society. They are also impressed by the Congress decision to field women from 40% of the assembly constituencies,” said Sangeeta.
“The response I am getting is also very touching. People are really looking for change this time,” said Neeraj. “Congress has some big plans for women. The party will give relief from inflation and will do development work here.
