Prophet controversy: Over 200 arrested, situation under control in violence-hit districts of Bengal, says DGP Kolkata News – Times of India

Kolkata: The situation is under control in some parts of West Bengal. DGP Manoj Malviya Said on Monday.
Violent protests erupted over controversial remarks on the Prophet Muhammad.
“So far the situation is under control,” Malviya told reporters at the West Bengal Police Headquarters in Kolkata.
Malviya said the police have arrested over 200 people from different parts of the state and registered 42 cases.

Protests against remarks on Prophet Muhammad by two suspended BJP functionaries turned violent in some districts of the state, including Howrah and Murshidabad, with the administration suspending internet services and restricting the movement of people.
