Protest for better net connectivity

Residents of hundreds of villages of Channagonda gram panchayat of Sagar taluk on Saturday took out a protest march demanding better internet connectivity.

They walked from Kattinaru to Kogaru for a distance of about 10 km and stopped traffic on the Sagar-Bhatkal road as a protest.

Residents of Kattinaru, Karni, Halasi and other villages have started a “No Network, No Voting” campaign demanding better internet connectivity. Students in the area were facing difficulty in attending online classes during the COVID-19 lockdown and technical experts, who had returned home, could not work from home. Apart from them, rural people had to visit government offices several times to get their services, which requires internet connectivity. Residents began the campaign by saying that they would not vote in any elections until the network was improved in the area.

The protesters staged a sit-in on the road and raised slogans. The leaders who addressed the gathering said that they would not stop their agitation until their demands were met.
