Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday announced a temporary suspension of public prayer services amid protests, saying “namaz in open spaces will not be tolerated”.

CM Khattar told the media that all previous restrictions given for public prayer had been revoked and the state government would now come up with an “amicable solution that would maintain all rights and ensure no encroachment or exploitation.” Said, there will be no one. Offering Namaz in public places.

He said, ‘I have asked the police to resolve the issue. People have no problem in offering Namaz or worship at designated places. Religious places have been earmarked for this. But the act of offering Namaz in the open will not be tolerated. The issue will be resolved amicably,” he said.

“There should be no law and order situation or any tension regarding the same. We came to know that there was a meeting between the groups and some places were agreed or allotted, but we will withdraw all with immediate effect and soon find an amicable solution,” said the Gurugram administration.

“They have said that they have some land where permission should be given. We will see if there is any Waqf land which has been encroached upon so that the same can be made available. People can offer Namaz in their own homes. But doing so in the open can lead to controversy. People’s rights should not be interfered with. But coercion will not be tolerated. We will help the Waqf Board to make their place encroachment free. Till then, people should offer Namaz at their legal places, homes etc. We won’t infringe on any rights, but bullying anyone is not allowed.”
