Puducherry: Due to incessant rains, the reopening of schools of classes 1-8 has been put on hold.

Puducherry government has delayed the reopening of schools for classes 1 to 8. Announcing the decision, Education Minister A Namasviyam said on Sunday that the reopening of both government and private schools has been stopped in view of the incessant rains at the Centre. Area. He said that incessant rains are the immediate reason for postponing the date of reopening of schools for classes 1 to 8.

The government will soon announce the new date for the reopening of schools for these classes. Namassivayam said that for classes 9 to 12, November 8 and 9 have been declared as holidays.

The government had recently said that all schools would resume classes for students from 1 to 8. But heavy rains forced the authorities to postpone the reopening date. “The new date will be decided and will be announced soon,” he said in the release.

The IMD had predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on November 7.

“Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on November 8 and 9.”
