Puducherry: The Daily positivity rate Of COVID-19 In the Union Territory of Puducherry, the infection remained below 1% for the third consecutive day on Friday. Of the 1,689 samples tested on Friday, only 14 returned positive, recording a positivity rate of 0.83%, which is lower than the average. National average of 1.3%. Weekly positivity rate (1.3%) in Puducherry Friday was also below the national average (1.5%).
At least 39 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours ending 10 am on Friday, taking the total number of active cases to 202. Of them, 183 are under home isolation and treatment, while the rest 19 are in hospitals.
Puducherry headquarters reported the maximum number of fresh cases with 12, followed by Yanam (2). Karaikal And Mahe did not report any fresh cases. Puducherry headquarter has maximum active cases with 120, followed by Karaikal (66), Mahe (7) and Yanam (9).
The area did not report any Covid-19 death for the fifth consecutive day on Friday and the toll stood at 1,960. Puducherry headquarter has reported the highest number of deaths with 1,528, followed by Karaikal (264), Yanam (113) and Mahe (55). The mortality rate of infection remained at 1.2%.
The region has reported 1.65 lakh cases so far, out of which 1.63 lakh patients have registered a recovery rate of 98.7%, which is higher than the national average of 98.5%.
