Pune: Moderate rain likely on the day of ‘Visarjan’, predicts IMD | Pune News – Times of India

Pune: India Meteorological Department (IMDThe city is expected to remain cloudy with moderate rain on September 9, the last day of Ganesh festival marked by a grand procession for immersion of Ganpati idols.
Meteorological department officials have issued a warning of heavy rain at isolated places in the Ghat sections of the district from September 8 to 10 and light to moderate rain across the city from September 5 to 8.
“The intensity of rain is likely to increase from September 8 onwards in Ghat sections present in Bhor, Velhe, Mulshi, Maval, Khed, Ambegaon and Junnar tehsils of the district,” a senior meteorological department official said.
The day temperature of the city has remained high for the last few days. Officials said they have mostly been between 33°C and 34°C, which is 4°C to 5°C above normal.
On Sunday, both Shivajinagar and Lohegaon observatories recorded 31.8 degrees Celsius, which was 3.3 degrees Celsius and 2.8 degrees Celsius above normal, respectively.
Clear skies have been prevailing in the city for the past two weeks till noon, with solar heat increasing the day temperature.
