With exit polls predicting a victory for the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab, the party awaits the results on Thursday, even as Congress leaders expressed confidence of retaining the state.
If AAP wins Punjab, it will be the party’s first victory in the state and a major improvement from its performance in the 2017 elections, when it finished second only to the Congress.
Several polls predicted the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP, which is in power in Delhi, getting a landslide victory.

After each round of counting, tabulation of results in the prescribed format will be done. It will be signed by the RO and the Observer and a copy will be shared with the candidates. After the declaration of result round-wise, the next round of counting will be done as per the extant instructions. The postal ballot results will also be shared in the prescribed format after obtaining the signatures of the agents of the candidates.

All the strong rooms, where the polled EVMs are kept, are under three-layered security with an inner cordon manned by the central armed forces. The concerned candidates are keeping an eye on the arrangement of the strong room through CCTV round the clock. In the polling states, the district administration has imposed section 144 of CrPC around the counting halls to ensure that peace and tranquility is not disturbed.
