Punjab Election Result 2022: 12 MBBS doctors set to enter assembly

After the phenomenal result of Punjab assembly elections, the state is all set to get 12 MBBS doctors as MLAs for the first time. 12 MBBS doctors beat their opponents to make it Punjab Assembly, Of the total 12 doctors, nine are from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and one each from Shiromani Akali Da (SAD), Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).

The doctors who have won the Punjab assembly elections are Dr. Kashmir Singh Sohal from Tarn Taran, Dr. Charanjit Singh from Chamkaur Sahib, Dr. Inderbir Nijjar from Amritsar East, Dr. Baljit Kaur from Malout, Dr. Vijay Singla from Mansa, Dr. Amandeep Kaur. Aurora is included. Dr. Ravjot Singh from Moga, Sham from Chaurasi and Dr. Balbir Singh from Patiala Rural. All of the above are named AAP,

While Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal of Congress won from Chabbewal, Dr. Nachhatar Pal of BSP from Nawanshahr and Dr. Shukwinder Kumar Sukhi of SAD won from Banga constituency.

The AAP won the Punjab elections by securing a three-fourth majority with 92 seats in the 117-member assembly, pushing most of its rivals to the margins.

In the 2017 elections in the state, the party came second after the Congress.

AAP will now form its second government in the country after the Arvind Kejriwal-led government in Delhi.

Kejriwal termed the party’s performance in Punjab as a “revolution”, while his party leader Raghav Chadha said AAP would emerge as a replacement for the Congress at the national level in the coming days.

AAP’s chief ministerial candidate Bhagwant Mann won from Dhuri by a huge margin of 58,206 votes.

Mann said that the swearing-in ceremony of the new cabinet of Punjab would be held at Khatkar Kalan, the native village of great freedom fighter Bhagat Singh in Nawanshahr district.

Mann said that no government office will show the pictures of the Chief Minister. Instead, photographs of Bhagat Singh and BR Ambedkar will be installed on the walls of government offices.

Urging people to work unitedly, Mann said those who did not vote for AAP need not worry as the government would work for all sections of the society.
