Punjab elections: AAP’s Bhagwant Mann declared assets worth Rs 1.97 crore

AAP’s chief ministerial candidate Bhagwant Mann contesting from Dhuri assembly seat in Punjab has disclosed assets worth Rs 1.97 crore, which includes two Toyota Fortuner SUVs worth Rs 27 lakh and immovable assets worth Rs 1.49 crore. Mann, 48, disclosed his assets in his affidavit on his assets and liabilities filed along with his nomination papers.

Along with his mother, he filed his nomination papers on Saturday before the Returning Officer at Dhuri for the Punjab Assembly elections to be held on February 20. In his affidavit, Bhagwant Mann has given statement of having movable assets of Rs 48.10 lakh and immovable assets of Rs 1.49 crore.

In his movable assets, the comedian-turned-politician, has declared two Toyota Fortuners worth Rs 27 lakh and a Chevrolet Cruze worth Rs three lakh. He also said that he has gold jewelery worth Rs 5 lakh, household items worth Rs 5.50 lakh and a gun worth Rs 20,000, weighing 95 grams.

He has declared his total income for the year 2020-21 as Rs 18.34 lakh. Mann has declared agricultural land worth Rs 1.12 crore in Sangrur. He also has commercial assets worth Rs 37 lakh in Patiala.

As per the affidavit, he does not have any residential property. According to the affidavit, Mann has a car loan of Rs 22.47 lakh and government dues of Rs 7.87 lakh, which is part of his liabilities.

He has done first year B.Com in 1992 from Shaheed Udham Singh Government College, Sunam in 1992. The country’s electoral laws, enacted at the urging of the Supreme Court as part of election reform, require candidates to file an affidavit detailing their assets and liabilities, including their spouse and children, their educational qualifications and Apart from criminal history, if any.
