In the 2017 Punjab Assembly elections, the Congress won an absolute majority in the state by winning 77 seats and ousted the SAD-BJP government after 10 years.
The Aam Aadmi Party has emerged as the second largest party by winning 20 seats in the 117-member Punjab Assembly.
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) could win only 15 seats after parting ways with the BJP over agricultural laws.
BJP could win only 3 seats.
