News agency ANI quoted Sonipat Police as saying that Punjabi actor Deep Sidhu has died in a road accident near Sonepat, Haryana. He was named as an accused in the 2021 Red Fort violence case.
Haryana Police said that Deep rammed his car into a parked truck near Pipli Toll on Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway.
Kharkhoda police station inspector Jaspal Singh said Sidhu’s SUV rammed into a truck. A woman accompanying Sidhu was admitted to the hospital where her condition is stated to be out of danger.
Sidhu was arrested in connection with the Red Fort violence on Republic Day on February 9, 2021, during a tractor parade of farmers against three agricultural laws of the Centre.
Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said that he was deeply saddened to learn about the unfortunate demise of renowned actor and social activist #DeepSidhu. My condolences and prayers are with the bereaved family and fans.”
