‘Purnahuti’ at Kanaka Durga Temple

This year around 4.5 lakh devotees entered the temple to give up their initiation. Total turnout is expected to reach 5 lakh by the end of the season

Priests of Sri Durga Malleswara Swamivarala Devasthanam performed Poornahuti On 29 December at the Yagyasala near Shivalayam, marking the end of Bhavani initiation.

Amidst Vedic chants, the temple priests offered silk sarees, pieces of sandalwood, ghee, flowers and fruits to Homam. asirvachanam (blessings) given to the devotees.

Thousands of Bhavani devotees made their way to the Kanaka Durga temple from midnight after taking a holy dip in the Krishna river and offered special pujas to the goddess.

The temple authorities are expecting the crowd to continue and are making arrangements accordingly.
