St. Petersburg, Russia: President Vladimir Putin Said on Sunday that the Russian Navy will get hypersonic Zircon cruise missiles in the next few months and the area of their deployment will depend on Russian interests.
Speaking at Russia’s Navy Day in St Petersburg, the former imperial capital, putin Praised Tsar Peter the Great for making Russia a great maritime power. Putin did not mention Ukraine straight.
But the Kremlin chief said he had signed a new naval doctrine, details of which were not published, and called the Zircon hypersonic cruise missiles unique in the world.
“The deliveries of these (missiles) to the Russian armed forces will begin in the coming months,” Putin said. “The Admiralty gorshkov The frigate will be the first to go on combat duty with these formidable weapons on board.”
“The main thing here is the ability of the Russian Navy … it is able to respond with lightning speed to all those who decide to violate our sovereignty and independence.”
Hypersonic weapons can travel at speeds up to nine times the speed of sound, and Russia has conducted previous test-launches of Zircon from warships and submarines in the past year.
