The new Kia Carens shares its platform with the Kia Seltos. The exterior gets an aggressive treatment with split lighting setup, signature LED DRLs, sleek LED headlamps and a muscular bumper with large air intakes. Then the sporty alloy wheels, bold character lines and roof rails also build on that strong appeal. The rear section gets sharp-looking wraparound LED taillamps that look like an LED strip. The sculpted tailgate and an aggressive rear bumper also complement the design nicely.

From the inside, the design is quite minimalist and the dashboard looks very flush with very few buttons and horizontal air-con vents. We also get to see a three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, and features like wireless charging, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, UVO Connected Car Tech, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, auto climate control, ambient mood lighting, spotlight. Others including a rear table tray and sunroof are on board. It will also share its powertrain options with the Seltos. So there will be 1.4-litre, four-cylinder turbo petrol, 1.5-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine options on offer. While a six-speed manual transmission will be standard, the turbo petrol will be offered with the option of a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) and the diesel will be available with a six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
