Qatar launches ‘scoring for the goals’ sustainability initiative ahead of FIFA World Cup

Qatar has demonstrated sustainability initiatives at the United Nations that it plans to implement in FIFA World Cup 2022. Qatar began “scoring for goals” at the UN headquarters on Sunday, 62 days after becoming the first Arab and Muslim country to host the World Cup. Organizers have described it as the most sustainable edition in the history of the global event.

The ceremony, held on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, was attended by Qatar’s top officials, including Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Secretary General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Heritage.
